Dell Inspiron M101z Laptop: First Look at Specs & Review

From the abode of one of the world’s largest manufacturers of laptops, Dell, comes a thin and light laptop which has not yet been released by Dell, the Dell Inspiron M101z, which is the latest that it has to offer. The laptop is expected to be released sometime in August, but the people at Liliputing did get their hands on this new and appealing device and have shared their views on it.

We all know that Dell laptops are the most preferred laptops in the industry, especially by the college students. This is mostly because it has proven its ability to provide computing power and features at quite an economical budget. The unique blend of cost and facets makes the Dell laptops truly appealing and rather innovative.

The Dell Inspiron M101z laptop boasts of a new and elegant design, and is about the same size as the Dell Inspiron 11z. The laptop is actually set to replae the ultra-portable Dell Inspiron 11z laptop. Apart from the changes which are apparently visible, the notable changes included in the laptop are the provision for the AMD and ATI components, that is, the AMD processor and the ATI graphics chip.

The Dell Inspiron M101z laptop has an 11.6 inch display which is capable of supporting 1366 x 768 pixels of resolution, and is being accompanied by the 1.7GHz AMD Athlon II Neo single core processors and ATI Radeon HD 4225 graphics. The laptop is said to be capable of supporting up to 4 GB of RAM, and up to 320 GB of hard drive space. The total configuration and specifications of the laptop are shown as below.

According to Dell, the Dell Inspiron M101z laptop is accompanied by a battery which gives a backup of 6 hours and 36 minutes, and this fact shall actually play in the preference of this laptop over other 11.6 inch laptops available by other vendors, such as the HP Pavilion dm1z. The HP Pavilion dm1z has quite a similar specification sheet as the Dell Inspiron M101z laptop, but is priced at $449 is U.S., whereas the Dell Inspiron M101z laptop is accompanied by a price tag of £379 in the U.K. site, which is around $584. The price seems to be a bit higher than HP.

Dell offers AMD Neo processors in Inspiron M101z budget laptop

It was just last week that Dell’s former “addiction” to Intel processors — a.k.a. Intel doing everything it could to make Dell not sell systems with AMD chips — resurfaced. Well, times have changed, and now you can find AMD processors in a small number of the company’s desktops and laptops. The latest is the Inspiron M101z.

This budget laptop is currently being offered in the UK with two different AMD Neo CPU options: a 1.7GHz single-core Athlon II K125 or a dual-core 1.3GHz Athlon K325. The 11.6-inch notebook also comes with 2GB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive, runs Windows 7 Home Premium, and packs ATI RS880M integrated graphics. Dell claims a typical battery life of 6.5 hours, and it’s available in blue, pink, and red lid colors in addition to basic black.

Pricing and availability for the US has not been announced, but the single-core model works out to about $587 and the dual-core one costs roughly $664.

Review Dell Inspiron 14R

PC World - Just in time for the back-to-school season, Dell has released its new R series of Inspiron all-purpose laptops. Though the stylish silver accents are the first thing you'll notice, the Inspiron R series is more than just a cosmetic upgrade. The Inspiron 14R may have fewer configuration options than the Inspiron 14 and may carry a higher starting price, but its improved hardware and refined design more than make up for the difference.

You can get an Inspiron R laptop in any of four colors: Mars Black, Peacock Blue, Tomato Red, or Promise Pink. Anything other than black, however, will cost you an extra $40. The cheapest Inspiron 14R is $479 (as of July 14, 2010), just $30 more than the least expensive Inspiron 14, but that particular model includes a 1.86GHz Pentium 6000. The real reason to select an R model is to obtain a Core i3 or i5 processor, which you can't get in a regular Inspiron 14. Selecting such a processor bumps the minimum price up to $649, but it means a substantially faster CPU and better Intel integrated graphics.

Our test machine, which cost $779 at the time of this review, came with a Core i3-350M processor (2.26GHz, two cores, and four threads), 4GB of DDR3 RAM, and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 with 1GB of graphics RAM. It also carried a 500GB, 5400-rpm hard drive. The R series doesn't give you many configuration options: You can choose from several models with somewhat different specs, but once you pick a system you can only change its color and upgrade to 6GB of RAM. By way of comparison, when I tried to configure a regular Inspiron 14 that matched the specs of our review unit (as close as I could get, at least) the result cost about $40 more.

Beyond the internal hardware, the Inspiron 14R differs from non-R laptops in other important ways. The lid hinge is offset about half an inch forward from the back of the machine, and the internal keyboard-tray surface is a nice brushed-silver tone. The power plug extends from the back-right corner of the machine, next to a USB port (non-R units have the power plug on the left side, and nothing on the back). The left side of the Inspiron 14R includes the ethernet jack, the exhaust vents, an HDMI output, a combination eSATA/USB port, and a multiformat card reader. The right side has another USB port, headphone and microphone jacks, and the 8X CD/DVD burner. In addition, 802.11n networking is standard (an upgrade over the non-R models), and the SRS Premium Sound definitely produces better audio quality through the speakers than you get on the non-R Inspiron models. In all, the Inspiron 14R is quite an attractive package for a 14-inch, 5.1-pound laptop.

REVIEW ON Dell Inspiron i1470-3282CRD

The Dell inspiron i1470-3282CRD is a stylish laptop which comes with an ultra low voltage processor. With the help of this processor, the manufacturers of Dell have tried to improve the battery life of the laptop and they have surely succeeded. The battery life has been raised up to five hours, but the fact is that they have achieved it on the cost of reducing the performance of the processor. Now it is up to  the user what they want? Whether they want a good processor or they want good battery life. Because the processor is slow so you cannot run heavy applications on this laptop. You cannot really use this laptop for gaming needs, so one thing is for sure that this laptop is not for gamers.

The design of the laptop will definitely attract you. Its lid is made up of cherry red color and a logo of Dell is also present at the center of lid which provides a stylish look. It has silver color keyboard. Its build quality is also strong. Its 14.1 inches screen gives us a display resolution of 1366×768 pixels. There is one more thing in this laptop which attracts us and that is its Atlec Lansing speakers which produces amazing sounds. Its keyboard is spacious, so there is no problem of typing on this keyboard. Its multi touch touchpad is also very comfortable to use so no problem with that also. All I can say that everything is fine in this laptop else it’s processing speed.
